Iota Omega Chapter Scholarships

The Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is an organization of African-American women who recognize outstanding and deserving young women in pursuit of a higher education. In support of this commitment, scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors from the
City of Norfolk.

Scholarship Descriptions & Essay Requirements:


Students must submit an essay for the Iota Omega Chapter Scholarships. Essays must be typed, double-spaced and have a word minimum. Scholarships are not awarded solely on academic achievement. The Iota Omega Chapter awards one renewable four-year Historically Black College and University (HBCU) scholarship every four years. The remaining scholarships are non-renewable with a one-time disbursement date.

Applicant Requirements:
  • °Female graduating seniors
  • °Attend a public or private high school in Norfolk, VA
  • °Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5
  • °Seek enrollment in a four year institution of higher learning
  • °Actively participate in community service
